¨ Change accounts, credit cards

¨ Subscription: Notice requires several weeks

¨ Friends and Family

¨ Transfer funds, arrange check cashing in new city

 ¨ Notify new location for coverage: Life, health, fire, auto. Home

 ¨ Transfer of car title registration in necessary; also drivers license and auto club membership

 ¨ Gas, Electric, water, telephone, cable, Fuel: Get refunds of any deposits made, arrange in new town for immediate service

 ¨ Laundry, newspapers, water delivery

 ¨ Ask for copies of children’s records for transfer

 ¨ Ask your doctor and dentist for referrals. Transfer needed prescriptions, eyeglass, x-rays and medical records

¨ Transfer membership

¨ Ask about regulations for licenses, vaccinations, tags, etc. Transfer veterinarian records

¨ Empty freezer. Plan use of foods

¨ Defrost freezer/refrigerator. Put in box of baking soda to dispel odors

¨ Have appliances serviced before moving.

¨ Clean rugs before moving and have them wrapped.

¨ Carry cash, jewelry and documents yourself

¨ Plan for transporting pets

¨ Carry travelers checks for quick available funds

¨ Let a close friend or relative know of the travel route and the schedule and your cell phone number.

¨ Double check closets, drawers and shelves to be sure they are empty
